The Republic of Yemen and the Sultanate of Oman signed a joint cooperation agreement today in Salalah, Oman. This agreement focuses on a significant electricity connectivity project between the electrical networks of Dhofar Governorate in Oman and Al-Mahra Governorate in Yemen. The initiative aims to enhance bilateral relations and foster collaboration between the two neighboring countries.

Project Details and Initial Phases

The agreement, signed in the presence of Al-Mahra Governor Mohammed Ali Yasser and Dhofar Governor His Highness Marwan Al Said, outlines plans to supply electricity to several areas in Al-Mahra. The initial phase includes connecting the cities of Huf and Shahn, with a distribution network designed to handle loads of 3 megawatts for Huf and 5 megawatts for Shahn. Additionally, the project will extend to Al-Ghaydah, accommodating loads of up to 50 megawatts.

Governor Yasser emphasized the project’s significance in supporting the electricity sector and enhancing developmental stability in the region.
