Yemenia Airlines announced today, Tuesday, the return of its Airbus A320 to service. This decision comes just days after the aircraft sustained damage to its wing during ground handling operations at Aden International Airport.
A responsible source from the airline informed the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the incident occurred on Sunday, June 23. A ground support vehicle collided with the aircraft’s wing, temporarily grounding the plane. Fortunately, the airline has confirmed that the aircraft is now fully operational as of this afternoon.
Before returning to service, the Airbus A320 underwent a rigorous operational test and airworthiness inspection. This evaluation included a full hour of flight to ensure the aircraft’s technical readiness. The first flight after maintenance is scheduled for early Wednesday, on the Aden-Jeddah-Aden route, under flight number IY512-3.
In a related development, the source announced the resumption of the Aden-Amman-Aden route starting Wednesday, July 9, 2025. This move is part of Yemenia Airlines’ efforts to restore its operational activities and expand travel options for Yemeni passengers.
Yemenia Airlines emphasizes that the safety of its aircraft and customer satisfaction remain top priorities. The airline continues to enhance its performance and operational efficiency across all stations.
