Weather Forecast: Partly Cloudy Skies with Thunderstorms Expected in Coastal and Mountainous Regions

The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast Center has issued a report indicating that weather conditions across Yemen will remain predominantly partly cloudy along coastal areas and their surroundings. On this Thursday, residents can expect warm to moderately hot temperatures accompanied by scattered rain showers, some of which may feature thunderstorms. Overall, wind conditions will be moderate.

Mountainous Regions: Thunderstorms Forecasted

The weather report, disseminated by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), predicts that mountainous regions will experience varying cloud cover, ranging from partially to fully cloudy skies. Temperatures are expected to remain moderate, with a significant chance of thunderstorms, some of which may be heavy and accompanied by hail. This weather pattern is anticipated to impact areas from northern Saada to southern Taiz and Lahij, extending eastward to parts of Al-Bayda and Abyan. In contrast, desert and plateau regions will likely see clear to partially cloudy skies with moderate temperatures and winds.

According to the weather bulletin, the expected maximum and minimum temperatures for Thursday are as follows:

    • Mokha: 31°C / 26°C

    • Zinjibar: 32°C / 25°C
    • Lahij: 35°C / 25°C
  • Desert and Plateau Areas:
    • Sayun: 37°C / 22°C
    • Marib: 35°C / 25°C
    • Ataq: 34°C / 24°C
    • Bayhan: 32°C / 24°C
  • Mountainous Areas:
    • Sana’a: 28°C / 15°C
    • Taiz: 31°C / 17°C
    • Dhamar: 26°C / 10°C
    • Al-Dhale: 30°C / 17°C
    • Ibb: 26°C / 14°C
    • Al-Bayda: 30°C / 12°C

Furthermore, the center has reiterated its warnings to residents in areas expecting rainfall, advising them to avoid riverbeds and valleys during potential flooding and thunderstorms. Drivers are also urged to exercise caution due to reduced visibility that may result from heavy rain and fog.

Marine Conditions

In its daily marine bulletin, the Weather Forecast Center indicates that sea conditions along the coasts of Al-Mahra, Hadramout, Shabwa, Abyan, Aden, Bab al-Mandab, and the western coast will remain calm. The Arabian Sea is expected to experience light waves, while the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea will see light to moderate waves.
