In a significant move towards improving water resources in the city of Ataq, Shabwa province, the Minister of Water and Environment, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, signed an agreement today in the temporary capital, Aden, with the organization Muslim Hands. This agreement outlines a project for the rehabilitation of two artesian wells in the Al-Shabika water field, aimed at pumping water to the city of Ataq.
The project’s primary goal is to enhance the water sources for Ataq city, reactivate the long-dormant wells, and equip them with submersible pumping units powered by solar energy, complete with all necessary installations, including pump rooms.
Minister Al-Sharjabi expressed the ministry’s commitment to addressing the causes of water disruption and ensuring the continuous provision of water services to citizens. He highlighted the significant hardships faced by the people of Ataq due to water shortages in recent times and appreciated the interventions of Muslim Hands in the water sector.
