The United States military announced on Saturday that it had destroyed drones and unmanned boats belonging to the Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen.
In a statement released on the X platform, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that its forces had, in the last 24 hours, destroyed six unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operated by the Houthi forces in an area under their control in Yemen.
Separately, the U.S. forces engaged with three unmanned boats operated by the Houthis off the coast of Yemen, successfully destroying them.
CENTCOM stated that these weapons were deemed an imminent threat to the United States, coalition forces, and commercial shipping in the region. The actions were taken to protect freedom of navigation and to ensure the safety and security of international waters.
Earlier, Houthi media outlets reported that American and British aircraft carried out eight airstrikes on Kamran Island and the Hodeidah airport in western Yemen.
This development underscores the ongoing conflict in Yemen and the involvement of international forces in maintaining regional security and protecting maritime routes.
