Experts from the National Weather Service have issued warnings about a coastal storm off the eastern coast of the United States. This storm is expected to bring strong winds, coastal flooding, and beach erosion over several days.
The storm, known as the “Northeast Storm,” formed off the coast of North Carolina. It is projected to remain offshore for most of the week. As a result, the storm may intensify wave heights and increase water levels, particularly during high tide periods.
Meteorologists have identified North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey as the states most likely to experience the storm’s effects. Authorities have issued coastal flooding warnings for parts of Maryland, Virginia, and northeastern North Carolina.
Officials anticipate water levels could rise by approximately 60 centimeters above ground in low-lying areas. Wind gusts may exceed speeds of 72 kilometers per hour.
Authorities urge residents in coastal areas to exercise caution and follow guidance from relevant agencies. They should prepare for potential flooding and elevated wave conditions in the coming days.
