The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has confirmed that negotiations between the United States and Iran continue following the first day of talks held at the Swiss resort of Bognetschock. During a press conference, the spokesperson for the ministry announced that technical discussions will resume next week, with coordination from both Pakistan and Qatar.
The spokesperson clarified that technical talks are ongoing, despite participants taking breaks intermittently. Islamabad maintains intensive communication with both the American and Iranian teams to ensure effective implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed on June 18 between U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian.
The spokesperson highlighted that the initial agreement includes the establishment of a direct communication line between Washington and Tehran. This line aims to prevent misunderstandings during future negotiation phases. The presence of these direct channels will facilitate and expedite the process of reaching an agreement.
In related news, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif reaffirmed his country’s commitment to diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and negotiation as effective means to resolve regional crises. Sharif expressed hope that the ongoing technical negotiations between Tehran and Washington will lead to a sustainable agreement that enhances regional stability.
These negotiations underscore Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability through mediation between major powers. Constructive dialogue serves as an effective tool to overcome the challenges facing the region. Continued efforts in this direction could yield positive outcomes in the relationships among the involved nations.
