Aden, Yemen – In a significant move to enhance air navigation and operational efficiency, Yemen’s Transport Minister, Dr. Abdul Salam Humaid, chaired a comprehensive meeting in the temporary capital, Aden, focusing on the execution of projects at Aden International Airport.
The meeting brought together prominent figures, including the President of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority, Captain Saleh Bin Nihid, Deputy Ministers of Transport for Air Transport, Engineer Tariq Abduh, the Aviation Safety Sector, Captain Mohammed Muqbil, the General Manager of Aden International Airport, Abdul Raqib Al-Omari, and the Director of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen in Aden, Engineer Ahmed Al-Madkhali. The assembly reviewed technical arrangements and final safety measures in preparation for the reconstruction of the airport’s main runway and the installation of new air navigation and communication devices. The launch of these critical activities is scheduled for the coming days, marking a pivotal step in modernizing the facility.
Transport Minister Dr. Humaid praised the continuous support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through its Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen. This backing has been instrumental in implementing various developmental projects at the airport, including the rehabilitation and construction of passenger terminals, runways, cargo hangars, and the installation of air navigation and communication equipment. These efforts aim to elevate the service quality for passengers and airline companies, significantly impacting Yemen’s aviation sector and enhancing Aden’s connectivity with the region and the world.
The President of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority reiterated the importance of the Saudi Program’s projects for Aden International Airport. He affirmed the authority’s dedication to doubling efforts, in coordination with all related entities, to complete the ongoing projects within the set timelines, adhering to international safety, security, and technical standards.
The Director of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen expressed readiness to start the execution of works by the contracting company, appreciating the leadership of the Ministry of Transport and their resolution of challenges facing the program’s projects at the airport.
Transport Minister Dr. Humaid also inspected the progress of a training course on aviation security fundamentals, organized by Valar Company, and reviewed the operational flow, air traffic movement, and the efficiency of service facilities at Aden International Airport. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high service quality for both arriving and departing passengers, highlighting the airport’s role as a civilizational front for the country.
This series of initiatives and discussions underscores a significant commitment to enhancing Yemen’s aviation infrastructure, with a focus on Aden International Airport as a key hub for regional and international connectivity.
