In a comprehensive inspection today, Dr. Abdulsalam Humaid, Minister of Transport, assessed the ongoing work and performance level at Aden International Airport. His visit covered the existing projects, including the newly designated site for the regional aircraft maintenance hangar, the air cargo project, and the airport perimeter wall project.
Final Touches on Key Projects
Dr. Humaid also examined the completion level of the airport’s gateway and roundabout projects, which are nearing their final stages with self-financing from the General Civil Aviation Authority. He emphasized the importance of completing these projects on time and according to agreed specifications.
Meteorological Management and Safety Measures
Accompanied by Saleh Bin Nihid, President of the General Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority, and Abdulraqeeb Al-Omari, General Manager of the airport, Dr. Humaid reviewed the operations within the meteorological department. Discussions highlighted the work, requirements, and needs for developing meteorological services, stressing the critical role of weather monitoring and forecasting, especially during the current period of continuous low-pressure systems, winds, cyclones, and thunderstorms, to ensure the safety and service of flights and passengers.

During a meeting with the leadership of Aden International Airport, directors of departments in the Authority and the airport, and officials from the civil and security agencies stationed at the airport, Dr. Humaid insisted on the collective effort to enhance the airport’s performance and present a positive image as the country’s gateway. He warned against any negligence or failure to perform duties, stating that strict actions would be taken against those who do not fulfill their responsibilities or violate regulations, including dress code compliance and the respectful treatment of passengers.

Dr. Humaid directed the swift establishment of a joint operations room at the airport to direct all working entities, unify efforts for more organized and effective operations, and ensure seamless communication with the Civil Aviation Authority, Ministry of Transport, and all relevant local and central government bodies.
