The Youth Minister discusses a project with the Red Cross to support tennis for individuals with disabilities.

 

Collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross

On Tuesday, Naif Saleh Al-Bakri, the Minister of Youth and Sports, met with Yasmin Bakhaz Dizmuz, the lead official for projects at the Swiss International Committee of the Red Cross. The discussion focused on the continuation of the “Support Project for Wheelchair Tennis for Persons with Disabilities,” which began two years ago in partnership with the National Network for Advocating the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Strengthening Partnerships for Disability Support

The meeting took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in the temporary capital, Aden. Attendees included Khaled Mohsen Al-Khalifi, the Sports Sector Undersecretary, and Dr. Mabrouk Al-Hassani, the project coordinator at the ministry. Minister Al-Bakri praised the strong partnership between the ministry and the Red Cross, particularly regarding programs for individuals with disabilities. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to maintaining this collaboration to benefit people with disabilities, reduce the impact of their conditions through sports participation, and enhance their roles within society, focusing on their reintegration into the community.

Opportunities for Physical Activity and Social Connections

Al-Bakri highlighted the importance of such projects as opportunities for individuals with disabilities to engage in physical activities, improve their health, and build social relationships. He noted that these initiatives significantly boost their self-confidence and independence.

Gratitude for Collaborative Efforts

In response, Dizmuz expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Network for Persons with Disabilities. She acknowledged the collective efforts to establish a strong relationship with the International Committee of the Red Cross, emphasizing the genuine partnership aimed at assisting individuals with disabilities, particularly the wheelchair tennis team.

Future Development and Expansion of the Project

Dizmuz affirmed that the achievements of the project reflect a spirit of responsibility, teamwork, and mutual cooperation. She indicated the organization’s commitment to developing the project further, with plans to expand its reach to other liberated provinces and support the participation of the wheelchair tennis team in international competitions.
