The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms has documented 219 crimes and violations committed by Houthi militias in Taiz Governorate over the past 48 hours.
In a statement released today, Thursday, the network outlined that the violations included killings, injuries, kidnappings, enforced disappearances, home raids, searches, and looting. Additionally, the militias conducted indiscriminate shelling of residential neighborhoods and intensified the blockade imposed on the city.
The network’s field team reported the deaths of seven civilians and injuries to nine others due to shelling of civilian homes, landmine explosions, and incidents involving military vehicles belonging to the militias.
The statement highlighted that the militias raided, searched, and looted over 130 homes in the areas of Al-Turbah, Al-Shamayatain, Al-Hujariyah, and Jabal Habashi. Furthermore, they kidnapped and forcibly disappeared 26 citizens, including children, the elderly, and the sick, transporting them to the governorates of Ibb and Dhamar.
The network noted that the militias launched approximately 377 projectiles at the city, resulting in damage to 29 homes and 18 private vehicles. This bombardment has instilled fear and panic among residents, particularly women and children.
The statement confirmed that Houthi militias continue to impose a strict blockade on Taiz, preventing the entry of food supplies, fuel, medicine, and other essential needs. This situation exacerbates the humanitarian crisis and increases the suffering of the population.
