The Meteorological and Early Warning Center announced today, Thursday, the expectation of scattered thunderstorms in several Yemeni provinces and regions. This forecast coincides with moderate to partly cloudy weather and active winds along some coastal areas and maritime outlets.
The center indicated that the Socotra Archipelago will likely experience potential thunderstorms. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is expected in parts of the southern and western coasts, accompanied by active winds in the western and southwestern coasts and Bab al-Mandab.
The center noted that the mountainous areas will see partly cloudy weather with moderate temperatures. There is a possibility of thunderstorms in various locations across the western and southwestern slopes, extending to parts of Lahij Governorate. Scattered thunderstorms may also occur in the provinces of Hadramaut, Shabwa, and Abyan.
In desert and plateau regions, the weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy and hot during the daytime. Moderate to active winds may stir up sand and dust in these areas.
The center urged residents in areas forecasted for rainfall to avoid staying in riverbeds and valleys. It also advised against remaining in open areas during thunderstorms, warning of reduced visibility due to fog in the southern and western highlands.
In the marine bulletin, the center predicted light to moderate wave conditions along most Yemeni coasts, the Gulf of Aden, and the Red Sea. Moderate waves are expected in the Arabian Sea. The center warned fishermen and sea-goers of potential disturbances and strong winds along the eastern and western coasts, Bab al-Mandab, and around the Socotra Archipelago.
