The Yemeni Ambassador to the Republic of Austria, Haitham Shuja’ al-Din, met today with the advisor to the Austrian Prime Minister, Peter Launsky, to discuss the latest developments regarding the “Fajr Yemen” operation. This initiative was announced by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, as part of efforts to restore state institutions and end the coup by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias.
Ambassador Shuja’ al-Din reviewed the military and security developments in Yemen. He emphasized the importance of Austria and the international community supporting the Yemeni government’s efforts to restore state institutions. He highlighted the threats posed by the Houthi terrorist militias to the security of Yemen, neighboring countries, and regional stability.
The ambassador also shed light on the ongoing violations committed by the Houthi militias against civilians in Taiz and other Yemeni provinces. He noted the resulting human losses and humanitarian suffering, reiterating the necessity of protecting civilians and holding those responsible for these violations accountable.
Furthermore, he expressed the Yemeni government’s hope for Austria to provide humanitarian support to the displaced population, which has exceeded 200,000 individuals due to the escalation by the Houthi militias. He called for enhanced Austrian support at the political level, assistance in restoring state institutions, and increased coordination with European partners to bolster security and stability in Yemen.
Ambassador Shuja’ al-Din condemned the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militias, including the targeting of King Khalid International Airport and civilian sites in the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He reaffirmed Yemen’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to protect its security, stability, and sovereignty. He stressed that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of Yemen’s and the region’s security.
In response, the Austrian official underscored the importance of ensuring maritime safety in the Red Sea and reaffirmed Austria’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s security and stability.
Both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and develop areas of mutual cooperation to serve their shared interests.
