Minister of Transport Discusses Cooperation with Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister

Today in Cairo, Dr. Abdul Salam Humeid, Yemen’s Minister of Transport, met with Dr. Sameh Hefny, Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, to explore avenues for mutual cooperation between the two countries.

Enhancing Air Transport Relations

The meeting focused on the current state of air transport relations, highlighting passenger and cargo movement between airports in Yemen’s liberated areas and Cairo International Airport. Minister Humeid presented an overview of the technical facilities and security arrangements at the airports in these liberated regions. He emphasized the importance of ensuring daily and safe flight operations.

Support for Egyptian Airlines

Minister Humeid welcomed the operation of Egyptian airlines from Egypt to the airports in Yemen’s liberated areas. He praised the ongoing support from Egyptian authorities, particularly the Civil Aviation Authority, and acknowledged the expertise of Egyptian professionals in aviation safety and security.

Commitment to Training and Support

In response, Minister Hefny expressed his commitment, along with relevant aviation institutions, to provide comprehensive support in training and development at EgyptAir Academy. He also mentioned the availability of technical consultations and necessary facilitation at Egyptian airports. Notably, he confirmed that flights between Cairo and Al-Riyan Airport in Hadramout are in the final stages of approval and will commence in the coming weeks.

Key Attendees

The meeting included key officials such as Engineer Tarek Abdo Ali, Deputy Minister for Air Transport, Captain Saleh Salim bin Nahid, Head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology, and Mohsen Haidara, Commercial Director of Yemen Airways.

This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening air transport cooperation between Yemen and Egypt, enhancing connectivity for travelers and goods.
