Governor of Taiz Presents Comprehensive Report to President Alimi

On Thursday, Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, delivered a detailed report to President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council. The report outlined the latest developments in the province, including the local authority’s plans to enhance various service, development, and security sectors. This presentation followed the President’s visit to Taiz on August 27 of last year.

Overview of Development Projects

Governor Shamsan confirmed that President Alimi reviewed the report, which included statistics on the number of completed and ongoing projects. The report highlighted a total of 269 development and service projects launched during the President’s visit, covering sectors such as education, health, water, sanitation, roads, and cleanliness. These initiatives received support and funding from the government, local authorities, the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, and various international organizations and active civil institutions.

Proposal for Educational Support Fund

In addition, Governor Shamsan proposed the establishment of a fund to support education in Taiz. President Alimi directed that this fund serve as a model for fruitful partnerships between state institutions, the business community, and civil initiatives. The President emphasized the importance of learning from Hadhramaut’s experience in strengthening the educational sector, which is crucial for addressing current challenges and securing future opportunities.

Presidential Directives for Local Authorities

Governor Shamsan noted that President Alimi instructed a review of the report and requested a comprehensive evaluation of the performance of local authorities in Taiz and its districts over the past six months. The President called for necessary changes and job rotations within the leadership of executive and service agencies, in accordance with the law. He also emphasized the need to prioritize citizens’ living conditions and services, enhance the readiness of armed forces, and counter the plans of terrorist militias.

Focus on Civilian Safety and Security

The President’s directives included the completion of evacuating all civilian facilities and residential homes from armed manifestations. He also stressed the importance of covering the necessary expenses to accomplish this task, while appreciating the local authority’s leadership and the progress made in this regard.

Project Completion Statistics

The report detailed the progress of the projects initiated during the visit of President Alimi and Council members Dr. Abdullah Alimi and Othman Majli to Taiz on August 27. It noted that 269 development and service projects were launched, with a total cost of $97,432,445. So far, 47 projects have been completed at a cost of $4,668,291, while work continues on 207 service projects costing $91,523,000. Additionally, the report indicated that 15 projects have yet to commence.

Local Authority Initiatives

The report outlined the implementation of 156 development and service projects funded by local authorities, with a total cost of 6,898,301,406 Yemeni rials. It highlighted the challenges faced by local authorities due to insufficient financial support and central resource allocation. To ensure citizens see quick results from the presidential visit, local authorities began executing 48 projects, including 36 aimed at rehabilitating and repairing internal roads in the province.

Environmental and Health Initiatives

The report also discussed the execution of 12 projects focused on improvement, cleanliness, and afforestation, with a total cost of 1,223,896,329 Yemeni rials and $33,128. Four of these projects have been completed, while eight remain in progress.

International Funding and Collaboration

Regarding international funding, the report revealed that President Alimi laid the foundation for 111 projects costing $94,946,618. Local authorities coordinated with other funding entities, securing an additional $17,626,879 for 64 projects. This increased the total funding to $112,573,497 for 175 projects across various sectors, including water, sanitation, road rehabilitation, and agricultural production.

Addressing the Needs of the Injured and Families of Martyrs

The report emphasized the local authority’s commitment to addressing the needs of the injured and families of martyrs. Efforts included evacuating and delivering 217 public and private properties, as well as providing financial support for the injured. The local authority facilitated the treatment of 44 injured individuals in Cairo and approved monthly allocations of 100 million rials for completely disabled individuals.

Advancements in Education and Renewable Energy

The report also highlighted the introduction of new university specializations, such as artificial intelligence and communication systems. Furthermore, the local authority has engaged with international organizations to provide renewable energy solutions, successfully powering over 80% of rural water wells with solar energy.

In summary, Governor Nabil Shamsan’s report to President Alimi underscores the ongoing efforts and challenges faced by Taiz’s local authorities in enhancing development and service sectors. The commitment to improving citizens’ living conditions and addressing pressing issues remains a priority as the province continues to navigate its path toward recovery and growth.
