Today, Governor Nabil Shamsan of Taiz held a meeting with leaders from various political parties and organizations to address the latest updates in military, security, and developmental plans within the province.
Governor Shamsan emphasized the importance of fostering national unity and aligning with local authorities and the military. He urged all parties to focus their efforts on countering the Houthi militia, which has intensified its attacks and attempts to breach front lines. He pointed out the critical need to support the resilience of the national army, whose members continue to display heroic acts in the face of ongoing Houthi escalation. The militia’s attempts to infiltrate positions and target residential areas, as well as public and private facilities, have resulted in numerous civilian casualties.
During the meeting, Governor Shamsan provided updates on the battlefield, highlighting the intense confrontations with the militia. He also discussed the efforts made by local authorities to implement vital projects, including the rehabilitation of roads, improvement of water and sewage systems, and the execution of economic and social development plans. He noted the ongoing coordination with the government, international organizations, and humanitarian partners to ensure the success of the United Nations initiative to make Taiz a model for sustainable development, culminating in a donor conference for the province in the coming months.
The governor stressed the significance of collaborative work in the upcoming phase, particularly regarding the implementation of service and development projects aimed at enhancing citizens’ lives and alleviating their hardships. He mentioned that the province is witnessing several ongoing projects, including road repairs, internal street rehabilitation, the installation of water meters, and sewage network upgrades, following significant damage repairs. He reiterated the call for unified efforts to meet the aspirations of the province’s residents for resilience, security, stability, and sustainable development.
In response, political party leaders praised the extraordinary bravery displayed by the army in the front lines. They acknowledged the military’s success in breaking the Houthi militia’s attempts to achieve illusory victories through large troop deployments and heavy weaponry, which have resulted in substantial losses for the militia in recent days. The leaders reaffirmed their support for the national army’s resilience and their commitment to backing local authorities in their developmental programs and projects that benefit the people of Taiz.
