Supreme Judicial Council Holds Regular Meeting in Aden

The Supreme Judicial Council convened its regular meeting today in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen. The session took place under the leadership of Judge Mohsen Yahya Taleb, the council’s president.

Notable attendees included Dr. Ali Ahmed Al-Awash, President of the Supreme Court, and Judge Badr Al-Aradah, Minister of Justice, who participated through video conferencing.

Performance Reports Reviewed

During the meeting, the council reviewed reports submitted by the Attorney General, the Minister of Justice, and the President of the Judicial Inspection Authority. These reports detailed the performance levels during the first half of 2026. The council praised the achievements made thus far and emphasized the need for continued efforts to enhance performance and address shortcomings in the upcoming period.

Promotions and Appointments Approved

The council approved the lists of promotions and adjustments for members of the judiciary, incorporating feedback from council members.

Additionally, the council appointed Judge Mohammed Abduljabbar Ahmed Saleh Al-Thuwair as the Deputy President of the Judicial Inspection Authority for Court Affairs and promoted him to the rank of Supreme Court member.

The council also assigned Judge Hassan Ahmed Hassan Ali Al-Shaibani to serve as a judge in the Supreme Court and appointed Judge Abdulkarim Qasim Mahboub as the head of the Appeals Court in Taiz Governorate.

The council expressed concern over derogatory remarks about the judiciary circulating on social media. It tasked the Attorney General with initiating legal actions against individuals whose posts contain criminal offenses.

Furthermore, the council reiterated the importance of adhering to its previous decision regarding publication guidelines. It instructed the head of the Judicial Inspection Authority to take necessary actions against any violations.

The council discussed several complaints from judges regarding warnings issued by the Judicial Inspection Authority and took appropriate measures to address these issues.

Additionally, the council reviewed various initiatives aimed at improving judicial operations and approved the minutes of its previous meeting.
