The Supreme Council of the Coalition discusses with the Japanese ambassador ways to support efforts addressing humanitarian and economic challenges.

Enhancing Cooperation to Address Yemen's Challenges

On Thursday, Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, the head of the Supreme Council for the National Coalition of Political Parties and Components, met with Japan’s Ambassador to Yemen, Younichi Nakashima. The discussion focused on strengthening cooperation and supporting efforts to tackle the humanitarian and economic challenges facing the Yemeni people due to the actions of the Houthi militia.

Acknowledging Japan’s Support

During the meeting, Dr. bin Daghr praised Japan’s noble role and humanitarian stance in supporting Yemen during its most difficult times. He emphasized that the agreements and areas of cooperation established between the two countries over the past decades provide a solid foundation for building extensive future partnerships that will benefit both nations.

Condemning Houthi Aggression

The members of the Supreme Council firmly rejected the extortion and bullying tactics employed by the Houthi militia. They highlighted the serious threat posed by attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and Gulf of Aden. Such actions represent a direct threat to regional and international security. The council called on the international community to adopt a more decisive stance against the terrorism and piracy perpetrated by the Houthis.

Japan’s Commitment to Stability

In response, Ambassador Nakashima reaffirmed Japan’s significant commitment to Yemen’s stability. He expressed support for all efforts aimed at restoring security and stability to Yemen and the broader region.

This meeting underscores the importance of international collaboration in addressing the pressing issues facing Yemen today.
