The Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen signed a cooperation memorandum today with the General Authority for Foreign Trade. This agreement aims to enhance coordination and integration between the two entities, expanding collaboration to support shared goals and development pathways in Yemen.
The memorandum, signed by Acting Governor Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Jabbar on behalf of the Authority and Assistant Supervisor Engineer Hassan Al-Attas for the Program, seeks to establish joint initiatives that stimulate the private sector. It emphasizes coordination with relevant Yemeni authorities and plans to hold conferences, seminars, and meetings to bolster private sector engagement. These efforts aim to promote economic recovery and support development and reconstruction efforts in Yemen.
Since its establishment in 2018, the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen has provided support across various essential sectors. The program adopts a comprehensive strategic approach that links infrastructure development, human capital enhancement, and empowering the private sector as an active partner in development.
The program has contributed to job creation by executing projects through contracts with Yemeni contractors, consultants, and suppliers. This approach has generated direct employment opportunities in the construction sector and revitalized the economy by activating supply chains.
The Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen collaborates with international, regional, and local organizations, as well as civil society and the private sector. These partnerships aim to foster sustainable development in Yemen.
