Prime Minister Reviews Wind Energy Project in Aden
On Saturday, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak visited the site of a new wind energy project located in the coastal area of Qa’wa in the Buraiqa district of Aden. This initiative, funded by the United Arab Emirates, aims to provide sustainable solutions to Yemen’s ongoing electricity crisis. The government is committed to finding long-term solutions that alleviate the suffering of citizens.
Project Details and Progress
During the visit, Prime Minister bin Mubarak, accompanied by the Chief of Defense and Security Advisor to the Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Mahmoud Al-Sobaihi, received updates from Minister of Electricity and Energy, Engineer Mani’ bin Yamin, and the Director of the General Electricity Corporation, Mujib Al-Shaabi. They discussed the progress made in selecting the site for the wind power station, which will generate 100 megawatts of electricity over an area of 28 square kilometers. Ongoing negotiations with UAE officials aim to finalize an agreement to commence the project.
The officials highlighted the Ministry’s strategy, guided by the Prime Minister’s directives, to strengthen partnerships with both regional and international allies. This collaboration will expand renewable energy projects, building on the success of solar energy stations in Aden and Al-Mokha, as well as future initiatives.
Urgent Call to Action
Prime Minister bin Mubarak urged the Ministry of Electricity and the General Electricity Corporation to expedite the necessary steps for implementing this vital project. He expressed gratitude to the UAE for its generous support in developing Yemen’s renewable energy sector. A Vision for Sustainable Development
The Prime Minister reiterated his appeal to Yemen’s development partners, including donor countries and organizations, to support the government in harnessing Yemen’s abundant renewable energy resources.
