Prime Minister Salim Saleh bin Brek Commends Historic Ties
Prime Minister Salim Saleh bin Brek praised the strong and historic relationship between Yemen and Kuwait during a meeting on Monday. He emphasized the mutual commitment to enhance and develop this partnership across various sectors. The Prime Minister acknowledged Kuwait’s honorable support for the Yemeni government and its people during challenging times.
Kuwaiti Ambassador Delivers Greetings and Support
During the meeting, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Yemen, Falah Al-Hajraf, conveyed the greetings of the Kuwaiti leadership. He congratulated Prime Minister bin Brek on his appointment and expressed wishes for his success. The ambassador assured that Kuwait would provide all possible support to aid the Yemeni government in navigating these difficult circumstances.
Focus on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation
The discussions centered on several key areas, including bilateral cooperation and Kuwait’s priorities for economic, developmental, and humanitarian support. The two leaders addressed urgent government needs and the activation of the joint higher ministerial committee. They also exchanged views on coordinating positions regarding issues of mutual interest.
Addressing Humanitarian Challenges
Prime Minister bin Brek highlighted the efforts of Kuwaiti funding institutions and charitable organizations in rehabilitating services and alleviating the humanitarian suffering caused by Houthi militias. He expressed a desire to strengthen partnerships with the government to identify changes in the priorities and needs of the Yemeni people. Key issues include stabilizing the national currency and improving essential services, particularly electricity.
Acknowledging Kuwait’s Generous Support
The Prime Minister asked Ambassador Al-Hajraf to convey his greetings to the Kuwaiti leadership. He expressed gratitude on behalf of Yemen’s leadership, government, and people for Kuwait’s generous support throughout various phases of the crisis. He noted that numerous schools, hospitals, universities, and water and agricultural projects serve as lasting testaments to Kuwait’s significant contributions to Yemen.
Kuwait’s Continued Commitment to Yemen
In response, Ambassador Al-Hajraf reaffirmed Kuwait’s clear stance alongside the Gulf Cooperation Council in support of Yemen’s legitimacy. He acknowledged the challenges presented by the Prime Minister and emphasized Kuwait’s commitment to doing everything possible to support the Yemeni government’s efforts during these exceptional circumstances.
