Prime Minister Receives UN Humanitarian Coordination Office Delegation in Aden
On Tuesday, Dr. Shai’ Mohsen Al-Zandani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed a delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Aden. The delegation was led by Edem Sorno, the Director of the Crisis Response Section.
Discussing Current Humanitarian Conditions
During the meeting, participants reviewed the current humanitarian situation and explored ways to enhance collaboration between the Yemeni government and UN organizations. The focus was on improving crisis response efficiency and transitioning from emergency relief to sustainable development projects.
Commitment to Humanitarian Efforts
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the UN delegation. He acknowledged OCHA’s vital role in supporting government efforts to alleviate human suffering. Furthermore, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating humanitarian teams, ensuring aid reaches the most vulnerable populations across various regions.
Need for Increased International Support
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of mobilizing additional international support to fund the humanitarian response plan. OCHA’s Future Plans
In response, Edem Sorno outlined OCHA’s upcoming humanitarian programs and plans. She assured that the United Nations remains dedicated to supporting humanitarian efforts in Yemen.
