Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Sha’ya Mohsen Al-Zandani, recently received a message from Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In her message, Georgieva reaffirmed the IMF’s strong commitment to supporting the Yemeni government’s efforts. She emphasized the importance of implementing policies and reforms necessary for achieving economic stability in Yemen. Furthermore, she highlighted the goal of fostering stronger, sustainable, and inclusive growth.
Georgieva expressed optimism about concluding the Article IV consultations with Yemen in the coming weeks. She noted, “A significant milestone was achieved last year when the IMF resumed Article IV consultations with Yemen in October after an 11-year hiatus. We hope to finalize these consultations by 2025.”
She stressed the need to build on this progress by continuing to support Yemen’s economic stability through capacity building and political dialogue.
Additionally, Georgieva congratulated Dr. Al-Zandani on his appointment as Prime Minister during a critical time for Yemen amid various internal and regional developments. She expressed her high regard for Yemen’s partnership with the IMF and looked forward to collaborating with his government. Georgieva wished him and his administration success in their endeavors.
This message underscores the IMF’s ongoing support for Yemen as it navigates complex challenges and strives for economic recovery.
