Prime Minister Meets Russian Ambassador to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Sanaa, Yemen – Today, Dr. Sha’if Mohsen Al-Zandani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Yevgeny Kudrov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Yemen. The two officials discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and explored opportunities for expansion, particularly in the energy sector. They also addressed the latest developments in national, regional, and international contexts.

Plans for Reopening the Russian Embassy

During the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Zandani received updates from Ambassador Kudrov regarding the ongoing arrangements to reopen the Russian embassy in the temporary capital of Aden. The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of this step in enhancing bilateral relations and improving coordination between the two nations.

Strengthening Historical Ties

Dr. Al-Zandani praised the historical relationship between Yemen and Russia, highlighting the mutual commitment to broaden cooperation and economic partnership. He acknowledged Moscow’s supportive stance towards the Yemeni people and their constitutional legitimacy, both bilaterally and as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. The Prime Minister reiterated the Yemeni government’s welcome of the Russian embassy’s resumption of operations in Aden, assuring that all necessary facilitation would be provided for its successful mission.

In response, Ambassador Kudrov reaffirmed Russia’s support for efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in Yemen. He expressed his country’s dedication to strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors and supporting the Yemeni government in addressing current challenges.
