Minister Discusses UN Development Program Support for Yemen
Algiers, Algeria – During the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank, Dr. Waed Badhib, Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, met with Dr. Abdullah Al-Dardari, the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The two officials explored various aspects of support for Yemen’s development initiatives.
Key Projects Under Review
The discussions highlighted several ongoing projects funded by the UNDP. These projects focus on critical areas such as fisheries, financial inclusion, and digital payments. Additionally, they addressed the development of the fishing port in Aden, which aims to boost local economies and improve livelihoods.

Minister Badhib emphasized the necessity of supporting Yemen in formulating a medium-term recovery and reconstruction plan. He underscored that such a plan is vital for the country’s long-term stability and growth.

Dr. Al-Dardari reaffirmed the strong partnership between the UNDP and Yemen. He noted that the program collaborates closely with the Yemeni government, represented by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, to expand projects that enhance economic resilience and create job opportunities.
