In Berlin today, Dr. Afrah Al-Zuba, Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, met with representatives from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The discussions focused on enhancing partnerships and expanding cooperation in social and economic policies, supporting peacebuilding efforts, and improving aid effectiveness. These initiatives align with the priorities of the Yemeni government and its plans for reform and recovery.
During the meeting, which included Yemen’s Ambassador to Germany, Louay Al-Iryani, both parties reviewed opportunities for collaboration. They emphasized areas such as social protection, economic reforms, and community dialogue. The transition from humanitarian response to sustainable recovery and development was a key topic. Additionally, they discussed supporting applied research and evidence-based dialogue to enhance public policy development and improve coordination among partners.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing coordination and expanding joint cooperation. This collaboration aims to support the Yemeni government’s efforts in achieving sustainable development, enhancing economic recovery, and fostering peace.
Minister Al-Zuba expressed the Yemeni government’s gratitude for the Friedrich Ebert Foundation’s ongoing work in Yemen. She highlighted the foundation’s decision to continue its activities from the temporary capital, Aden, as a testament to its commitment to supporting national institutions and enhancing cooperation with the government.
