The Yemeni Interior Ministry announced that security forces in liberated provinces arrested 1,715 individuals for various criminal offenses during January. This effort reflects a strong commitment to enhancing public safety and combating crime across the region.
Crime Statistics and Arrest Rates
According to a statement from the ministry’s Security Media department, based on daily reports from the General Administration of Leadership and Control, police recorded 1,835 crimes in January. Remarkably, authorities successfully apprehended suspects in 1,600 of these cases, achieving an impressive resolution rate of 87%.
Breakdown of Criminal Offenses
The arrested individuals faced charges related to a range of serious crimes. The statistics include:
- 24 cases of intentional homicide
- 1 case of unintentional homicide
- 42 attempted murder incidents
- 377 cases of intentional injury
- 63 drug-related offenses, including possession, trafficking, and use

The arrests varied significantly across different provinces. Taiz led the list with 441 suspects, followed by Marib with 297, and the coastal region of Hadramout with 260. Other provinces included:

- Aden: 149 suspects
- Shabwa: 114 suspects
- Al-Dhale: 78 suspects
- Al-Mahra: 64 suspects
- Hadramout Valley and Desert: 63 suspects
- Hajjah: 35 suspects
- Abyan: 33 suspects
- Al-Hudaydah: 21 suspects
- Socotra Archipelago: 2 suspects

Investigations revealed several factors contributing to the rise in criminal activity. These include:
