The Ministry of Legal Affairs and Human Rights has voiced serious concerns regarding the Houthi militia’s announcement on Saturday to execute three citizens from Al-Mahwit Governorate. The individuals targeted for execution are Ismail Abu Al-Ghaith, Saghir Farah, and Abdulaziz Al-Aqeeli. This decision follows what the ministry describes as politically motivated trials and coerced confessions obtained through ongoing brutal torture.
In a statement released by the ministry, officials highlighted that this alarming announcement comes on the heels of recent discussions in Muscat, Oman. These talks involved a committee focused on exchanging prisoners and hostages, which many viewed as a hopeful step toward a comprehensive release agreement. However, the ministry criticized the militia’s decision as a return to their habitual tactics of evasion and manipulation, undermining previously reached agreements.
