The Ministry of Health organizes a training program on cholera case management and infection control.

Training Program on Cholera Treatment and Infection Control Launched in Aden

The Ministry of Public Health and Population, in collaboration with the World Health Organization and supported by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, launched a two-day training program today in Aden. This initiative focuses on enhancing the skills of healthcare professionals in managing cholera cases and controlling infections.

Objectives of the Training Program

The program aims to equip 170 doctors, nurses, and health personnel from cholera treatment centers in Aden, Abyan, Hadramout (coast and valley), and Al Hudaydah with essential knowledge and skills. Participants will learn about the epidemiological aspects of cholera, transmission methods, risk factors, clinical manifestations, dehydration assessment, and management of cholera in pregnant women and malnourished children.

Importance of the Training

Dr. Ali Al-Walidi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Primary Health Care, emphasized the significance of this training in reinforcing sound scientific concepts among health workers regarding cholera management. He reviewed the current cholera epidemic situation and the efforts made to contain its spread. Dr. Al-Walidi praised the contributions of partners, particularly the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, for their effective support in maintaining the health sector amid challenging conditions.

Challenges in the Health Sector

Dr. Al-Walidi highlighted several challenges facing the health sector that require collaboration with other partners. He stressed the importance of coordinated roles between health authorities and related entities to address these challenges effectively.

Encouragement for Knowledge Sharing

Dr. Ahmed Al-Bayshi, Director General of the Public Health and Population Office in Aden, encouraged participants to absorb the training content and share this knowledge with their colleagues to maximize its benefits. He also outlined several measures taken to combat the cholera outbreak in Aden.

This training program represents a critical step in strengthening the healthcare response to cholera and improving public health outcomes in the region.
