Alarming Report Reveals Civilian Casualties from Houthi Landmines

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms has released a distressing report detailing the impact of landmines planted by Houthi militias, backed by the Iranian regime. The report, titled “Landmines Without Maps,” indicates that from January 1 to August 30, 2025, these landmines resulted in the deaths of 64 civilians and injuries to 83 others. Additionally, 68 private vehicles sustained damage during this period.

Random Placement of Landmines

The report highlights the indiscriminate placement of landmines by Houthi militias. These mines have been found in public and private facilities, homes, markets, streets, and farms. The lack of distinction between civilian and military targets has led to tragic casualties, including women and children.

Call for International Action

In light of these findings, the Yemeni Network urges the international community and the United Nations to condemn these actions. They emphasize the need for pressure on the Houthis to provide maps of the landmines they have deployed. The network warns that the ongoing threat to civilian lives and infrastructure in Al Hudaydah province remains critical.
