Minister Discusses Resumption of Rural Road Projects in Al-Dhale'e

On Sunday, Minister of Public Works and Roads, Eng. Salem Al-Hureizi, met with Al-Dhale’e Governor, Major General Ali Maqbel Saleh, to discuss the resumption of rural road projects halted due to the ongoing conflict. Among the key projects highlighted were the 37-kilometer road connecting Bani Saeed, Al-Ashier, and Al-Ma’arid, funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, and the 23-kilometer Al-Jabareh to Al-Awabel road, which serves as a crucial alternative route during crises.

Government Efforts to Revive Key Infrastructure

During the meeting, which also included the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Roads, Eng. Walid Radman, Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Walid Al-Sahmi, and the Director General of the Ministry’s Office in Al-Dhale’e, Abdulrahman Ali Hamoud, Minister Al-Hureizi emphasized the government’s commitment to reviving these essential projects. He noted that the ministries of Public Works and Planning have sent official letters to regional and international funding agencies to secure financing for the stalled projects, which are vital for enhancing the road network and serving the local population.

Recent Achievements in Road Development

The discussion also covered projects completed in recent years. A total of 21 projects received funding from the World Bank through the United Nations Office. These initiatives included the rehabilitation of 13 asphalt roads and seven rural road paving projects. Notable among these were the first phase of the Al-Dhale’e to Juhaf road and the Al-Dhale’e to Al-Zahir road, both of which significantly improved transportation services in the governorate.

Ongoing Projects and Future Plans

Major General Ali Maqbel reviewed ongoing projects, including the 25-kilometer Snah to Hajar road and the 20-kilometer Al-Mazaj to Al-Dhale’e to Qatabah road. He highlighted their role in facilitating traffic flow and enhancing transportation services across various regions. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of rehabilitating internal and secondary roads to meet the needs of residents and improve the quality of services provided to them.

The government remains focused on revitalizing infrastructure to support local communities and foster economic growth in Al-Dhale’e.
