The Minister of Information stated that those claiming to support Palestine are committing the same crimes against innocents in Taiz.

Houthi Snipers Target Civilian in Taiz: Minister Condemns Ongoing Violence

The Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Moammar Al-Eryani, condemned the recent attack by Houthi snipers on a young man named Omar Mukhtar. The incident occurred as Mukhtar attempted to transport his mother to a hospital in the Zahra neighborhood of Taiz. Al-Eryani reported that Mukhtar suffered a shoulder injury but miraculously survived the assault.

Patterns of Violence

Al-Eryani highlighted that this incident adds to a disturbing trend of systematic attacks perpetrated by Houthi militias. These attacks often involve gunfire, landmines, and explosive devices, resembling the tactics used in other global conflicts, particularly those associated with Israeli occupation.

Houthi Actions Under Scrutiny

Despite the Houthi movement’s claims of supporting the Palestinian cause in Gaza, Al-Eryani pointed out the stark contradiction in their actions. He stated that the Houthis commit heinous crimes against innocent civilians daily. They target individuals without distinction, including children, women, and the elderly. This brutality is particularly evident in Taiz, which has the highest population density among Yemeni provinces.

Taiz: A City Under Siege

Al-Eryani described Taiz as an open battlefield where residents live in constant fear due to Houthi attacks on residential areas. He criticized the Houthis for promoting their actions under the guise of a “resistance axis,” labeling their conduct as terrorism. He emphasized that those who claim to support Palestine are committing similar atrocities against innocent Yemenis.

Call for International Action

In light of these ongoing violations, Al-Eryani urged the international community, including the United Nations and its special envoy, to take decisive action. He called for measures to protect innocent civilians and hold accountable those responsible for systematic killings within the Houthi leadership. Furthermore, he advocated for the immediate classification of the Houthi militia as a global terrorist organization.

This incident underscores the urgent need for international attention and intervention to address the escalating violence in Yemen, particularly in Taiz, where civilians continue to suffer amidst the conflict.
