Yemeni Minister of Information, Muammar Al-Eryani, has criticized the Iranian regime and the Houthi militia for promoting the establishment of a direct air bridge between Tehran and Sana’a as a “humanitarian step.” He questioned, “Since when has the Iranian regime organized humanitarian flights to Yemen? When has it ever created air bridges to aid Arab nations or deliver humanitarian assistance to afflicted countries?”

Iran’s Record Speaks Volumes

In a recent press statement, Al-Eryani highlighted Iran’s troubling history in the region. He pointed out that the air bridges established by Iran in various conflict zones have never aimed to transport food, medicine, or relief teams. Instead, they have facilitated the transfer of ballistic missiles, drones, explosive-laden boats, and military experts from the Revolutionary Guard. These actions have fueled conflicts, prolonged wars, and increased the suffering of local populations.

Concerns Over Military Presence

Al-Eryani noted the arrival of an Iranian Revolutionary Guard representative in Sana’a just one day after an Iranian aircraft landed there. This timing raises legitimate concerns and reveals the true purpose of the air bridge, contradicting claims of “humanitarian flights.” He emphasized that the goal was not to transport patients or stranded individuals, but to bolster Iran’s military and security presence in Yemen, along with transferring expertise and technology that support Iran’s agenda in the region.

The minister warned that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard might exploit this air bridge to replenish the Houthi militia’s military capabilities.
