Cuba has begun restoring electricity to vast areas following a nationwide blackout, the third such incident this year. This situation unfolds amid a severe economic crisis exacerbated by restrictions on importing fuel. While power has returned to many regions, some areas continue to experience supply shortages.
Cuban authorities report that electricity has been restored to 10 out of 15 provinces. However, several households remain without power due to reduced energy production linked to fuel shortages. Officials indicated that Monday’s blackout, the eighth since late 2024, resulted from electrical voltage disruptions and decreased output at power plants.
Cuba currently faces strict electricity rationing. In parts of the capital, Havana, residents endure power outages lasting over 24 consecutive hours, while some rural areas experience interruptions exceeding 70 hours. The government aims to conserve fuel amid the escalating crisis. These measures pose significant challenges for citizens who rely on electricity for their daily lives.
The ongoing energy crisis continues to disrupt daily life for many Cubans. Restrictions on fuel imports have worsened the economic situation, making it increasingly difficult to access essential services. Many citizens suffer from the repercussions of these crises, highlighting the urgent need for government intervention to improve the electrical situation.
