The Minister of Information praises Saudi Arabia’s vision for integrating Yemen into the Gulf region following its stabilization.

In a recent statement, Yemen’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, emphasized the importance of Yemen’s integration into the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) or a similar regional framework. His remarks came during a conference hosted by the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration, where he highlighted the strategic vision of Saudi Arabia regarding Yemen’s role in the Arabian Peninsula and the broader Arab world.

Yemen’s Strategic Importance

Al-Eryani asserted that Yemen, with its rich history, strategic location, and significant population, plays a crucial role in regional security and stability. He argued that any integrative project involving Yemen would enhance overall stability in the region. The geographical, social, and economic ties between Yemen and Gulf countries make it essential for Yemen to be part of a cooperative system that safeguards its interests and fosters development.

Challenges from Iranian Influence

The minister pointed out that Yemen faces significant challenges beyond the ongoing conflict instigated by the Houthi militia. He warned of Iran’s attempts to detach Yemen from its Arab roots, using the Houthis as a tool to exert pressure on regional security. Al-Eryani noted that these Iranian-backed efforts aim to disrupt Yemen’s social fabric and impose a reality that contradicts Yemen’s Arab identity and its natural connections to the Gulf.

A Call for Unity Against External Threats

Al-Eryani described the wise proposal from Prince Turki Al-Faisal as a crucial message for Yemenis. He urged the population to recognize that their future lies in rejoining the Arab community, rather than succumbing to Iranian influence, which seeks to turn Yemen into a battleground for its expansionist ambitions.

He emphasized that resisting this sectarian agenda is a national responsibility for all Yemenis. He called for unity among various factions to support the legitimate leadership of President Rashad Mohammed Alimi and the Presidential Leadership Council in their efforts to restore the state and ensure a Yemen free from Iranian interference.
