The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism condemns the Houthi attack on “Hankat Al-Masoud” as a horrific crime against civilians.

Minister Condemns Houthi Attack on Civilian Village in Al-Bayda

The Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, has condemned the brutal attack carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia on the village of “Hankat Al-Masoud” in Qifah, located in the Al-Qurayshiyah district of Al-Bayda province. This incident highlights the horrific crimes committed against innocent civilians and underscores the militia’s deliberate intent to spill blood and spread destruction in areas under its control, with complete disregard for international law and human rights.

Details of the Attack

In a press statement, Al-Eryani explained that the Houthi militia launched a massive assault involving heavily armed militants and drones. They targeted homes and properties belonging to civilians in the village, employing tank and artillery shells. This attack resulted in numerous casualties, including women and children, and caused significant damage to homes and private property, including the destruction of the Maawiya Mosque.

Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis

Al-Eryani pointed out that this savage attack occurs amidst a suffocating blockade imposed by the Houthi militia for over a week. This blockade aims to deprive residents of their basic needs, exacerbating their daily suffering and worsening the dire humanitarian conditions they face. This incident represents another chapter in the ongoing pattern of violence and criminal assaults against innocent civilians in a province that has long stood as a bastion of resistance and national dignity.

Reflection of Houthi Malice

Al-Eryani stated, “This horrific attack on citizens’ homes and mosques, resulting in numerous casualties, reflects the deep-seated hatred of the Houthi militia towards the people of Al-Bayda in general and Qifah in particular. Their actions target anyone who opposes their backward, sectarian agenda.”

He emphasized that this incident is not an isolated event but part of a series of bloody assaults the Houthi militia has executed against various villages in controlled areas. These attacks have led to thousands of civilian deaths and injuries, revealing a systematic policy aimed at destroying civilian lives and instilling fear among the populace.

International Responsibility

Al-Eryani asserted that the recent attack and previous systematic violations against the people of Al-Bayda demonstrate the nature of the Houthi militia, which fails to distinguish between civilian and military targets. Their ultimate goal remains the shedding of blood and the spread of chaos and destruction in every area they control, using all available brutal means to subjugate the Yemeni people.

He underscored that the suffering experienced by the village of Hankat Al-Masoud reveals the militia’s blatant disregard for international laws, as they continue their aggression against innocents with heavy weaponry and drones. Al-Eryani reaffirmed that the people of Al-Bayda, who have historically symbolized resilience and resistance, will only accept freedom and will not allow the militia to undermine their will or distort their identity, regardless of the cost.

Call for International Action

Al-Eryani urged the international community, including the United Nations, to take decisive action to stop these brutal attacks immediately. He called for the classification of the Houthi militia as a “global terrorist organization” and for the prosecution of its leaders in international criminal courts for the crimes and violations they have committed against innocent civilians, including their terrorist activities that blatantly violate international laws and treaties.

This condemnation and call for action highlight the urgent need for global intervention in the ongoing conflict in Yemen, where civilian lives continue to be at risk.
