Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Leads Meeting on Tourism Classification in Aden

On Sunday, the Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, convened a significant meeting in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen. This gathering included members of the Tourism Classification Committee, focusing on the progress of hotel and tourism facility classifications in the region.

Review of Classification Progress

During the meeting, participants reviewed the achievements made in classifying hotels and tourism establishments in Aden. The committee recently completed the first phase of classification, which involved field assessments based on international standards and criteria.

Presidential Support for Tourism Development

Al-Eryani conveyed greetings from President Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi and the members of the Presidential Leadership Council, as well as Prime Minister Salem Bin Brek. He emphasized their support for efforts aimed at organizing and enhancing hotel services in Aden.

Commitment to Professional Standards

The Minister stressed the importance of continuing efforts with a unified team spirit. He urged strict adherence to professional standards during evaluations to build trust in the national tourism sector. Al-Eryani highlighted the need for institutional work based on precise methodologies and effective partnerships to ensure a genuine tourism revival that meets the aspirations of Yemenis and the needs of visitors.

Detailed Performance Assessment

Al-Eryani instructed the committee to prepare a detailed summary assessing hotel performance. This summary should identify reasons for the lower ratings of certain establishments, highlight violations affecting service quality, and evaluate each facility’s compliance with the ministry’s standards. Additionally, he called for the issuance of official classification certificates as a motivational step, to be distributed to the relevant hotels within a month, enhancing transparency and professional recognition.

Addressing Challenges Faced by Hotel Owners

The Minister listened to the committee’s report on key achievements and the challenges faced during the classification process, including the difficulties experienced by hotel owners. He announced plans to arrange a joint meeting with the Minister of State and the Governor of Aden to discuss these issues and seek practical solutions.

Acknowledgment of Efforts

Al-Eryani praised the efforts made to successfully carry out the classification task and the significant steps taken toward improving the quality of tourism facilities and services offered to tourists. He expressed appreciation for the constructive feedback and suggestions presented during the meeting.

Planning for the Next Phase

The Minister also pointed out the necessity of preparing lists of deficiencies for the second phase of classification. These lists will be distributed to all hotels, detailing the specific shortcomings of each establishment, accompanied by the relevant classification certificates.

Attendees of the Meeting

The meeting included notable attendees such as Mohammed Bashraheel, Chairman of the 14 October Foundation for Press, Printing, and Publishing; Mohammed Saeed Salem, Deputy Governor of Aden; and several officials from the Ministry of Tourism and the Executive Board of the Tourism Promotion Council.

This meeting marks a crucial step in enhancing Yemen’s tourism sector, aiming to elevate the quality of services and attract more visitors to the region.
