The Minister of Information condemns the “Sarf” crime and calls for classifying the Houthi militia as an international terrorist organization.

Minister Condemns Houthi Militia for Deadly Explosion in Sana’a

Tragic Incident in Residential Area

Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, has strongly condemned the horrific crime committed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia. The militia stored weapons in a residential home located in a densely populated neighborhood of the Suf area in Bani Hashish District, Sana’a.

Casualties and Damage Reported

In a press statement, Al-Eryani revealed that a violent explosion occurred in the home, resulting in the deaths of at least 40 citizens and injuring hundreds more. The blast also destroyed numerous homes. He noted that the militia imposed a media blackout to prevent information about the scale of the disaster from leaking.

Pattern of Violence

Al-Eryani highlighted that this incident marks the second crime committed by the militia within 24 hours. Earlier, a missile explosion occurred after the militia failed to launch it from the vicinity of Sana’a Airport. This pattern clearly indicates the militia’s determination to militarize urban areas, converting populated neighborhoods and civilian facilities into storage sites for weapons and platforms for launching ballistic missiles and drones. This behavior mirrors that of Hezbollah in Lebanon, posing a constant threat to civilian lives and state resources.

Call to Action for Citizens

Al-Eryani urged citizens living under Houthi control to reject the transformation of their neighborhoods into weapon depots. He encouraged anyone aware of nearby weapon storage to collaborate with neighbors to remove these threats immediately, preventing further tragedies like the one in Suf. He emphasized that the recent explosion cannot be dismissed as an accidental event; it constitutes a complete war crime committed by the Houthi militia against civilians.

International Community’s Responsibility

The minister also called on the international community to fulfill its legal and humanitarian responsibilities regarding these repeated violations. He urged decisive and punitive actions against the Houthi militia, including classifying them as a terrorist organization, similar to the stance taken by the United States and several other countries. He advocated for sanctions against militia leaders involved in crimes targeting innocent civilians.

This tragic event underscores the urgent need for international attention and action to protect civilians in conflict zones.
