The Minister of Information condemns the Houthi crime against a prominent Quran teacher in Rima and calls for classifying the militia as a terrorist organization.

Minister Condemns Houthi Attack on Prominent Quran Teacher

Outrage Over Brutal Assault

The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, has strongly condemned the brutal attack carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia against Sheikh Saleh Hantous, a prominent Quran teacher in Al-Raimah Governorate, and his family. This incident highlights the ongoing violations and crimes committed by the militia against innocent civilians in areas under their control since their violent takeover.

Details of the Attack

In a recent press statement, Al-Eryani revealed that the Houthi militia besieged Sheikh Hantous’s home in the village of Al-Mu’adhab, located in the Bani Nafea district of Al-Salifiyah, Al-Raimah. The militia employed a heavily armed campaign involving 20 military vehicles and bombarded the house with RPG shells. This assault resulted in serious injuries to both Sheikh Hantous and his wife. Alarmingly, the militia continues to prevent their transfer to a hospital for medical treatment, violating fundamental humanitarian laws and values.

Targeting Religious Institutions

Al-Eryani noted that this attack follows the Houthi militia’s closure of the Quranic center in Al-Salifiyah, which Sheikh Hantous had managed for three decades. The militia also burned its contents, including books, in a blatant attempt to erase the moderate religious identity of Yemeni society and impose their Iranian-backed sectarian agenda.

Contradictions in Houthi Actions

The Minister emphasized the stark contradictions in the Houthi militia’s behavior. While they exploit the Palestinian cause and promote slogans like "Support Gaza," they simultaneously engage in violence and terrorism against Yemenis. Their actions continue to devastate the lives of citizens and infringe upon their rights, all in service of an Iranian expansionist project that threatens Yemen’s security, stability, and national identity.

Call to Action

Al-Eryani reiterated that the Yemeni people will not remain silent in the face of these crimes and violations perpetrated by the Houthi militia against their fellow citizens. He asserted that the blood of innocents will not be shed in vain; instead, it will strengthen the resolve of Yemenis to confront and dismantle this militia and thwart its Iranian-backed terrorist agenda.

The Minister urged the international community and human rights organizations to condemn this crime and take clear, decisive action against these violations. He called for urgent measures to classify the Houthi militia as a global terrorist organization, cut off its funding sources, and support the legitimate government’s efforts to restore the state and end the coup that has caused suffering for the Yemeni people for years.

Conclusion

This incident underscores the urgent need for international attention and action regarding the ongoing crisis in Yemen. The Yemeni people continue to face significant challenges, and the call for justice and accountability grows louder.
