The Chairman of the Leadership Council meets with the Speaker of the House and members of the Council’s Presidency.

President Rashad Alimi Meets with Parliamentary Leaders to Discuss National Challenges

On Tuesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened at the Maasheeq Palace with Sheikh Sultan Al-Barkani, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and members of the Council’s leadership, including Mohammed Al-Shadadi and Mohsen Basra. This meeting aimed to address the latest developments in the political, economic, and service sectors, particularly in light of the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities and maritime shipping, supported by the Iranian regime.

Overview of Current Developments

During the meeting, President Alimi presented an overview of the local situation, outlining government policies and measures taken to meet the state’s obligations. These include ensuring timely salary payments for employees, maintaining essential services, and enhancing readiness for the battle to restore national institutions and dismantle the coup.

The President emphasized that this meeting reflects a shared commitment to strengthen communication among authorities and to address the pressing needs of the current phase, especially given the extraordinary circumstances imposed by the Houthi militia and its allied terrorist organizations.

Economic Challenges and Opportunities

President Alimi highlighted the economic crisis as one of the most significant challenges facing the state today. He pointed out the severe impact of halted oil exports on humanitarian conditions, service projects, and investment programs. He discussed strategies to transform these crises into opportunities and mobilize resources for self-sufficiency.

He stated, “The Presidential Leadership Council is committed to working with the government to restore income sources and diversify resources, with the support of our brothers and friends, while adhering to principles of transparency and governance in all governmental dealings.”

Addressing Security Concerns

The President also addressed security challenges amid rising criminal activities by Houthi militias and their terrorist affiliates. He confirmed that security and military agencies have conducted significant operations, achieving breakthroughs against terrorist cells linked to Al-Qaeda and ISIS, with explicit support from the Houthi militias.

He stressed the need for a unified national discourse to confront this existential threat, urging all representatives of the people to adopt a firm stance.

Commitment to National Partnership

President Alimi reiterated the importance of fostering a national partnership with all political forces, rejecting any exclusionary rhetoric or implications of marginalizing any national component. He expressed concern over misleading interpretations that suggest the Consultative and Reconciliation Body serves as a substitute for the House of Representatives, clarifying that this interpretation is inaccurate and misaligned with constitutional texts.

Regional Context and International Relations

Regarding the regional situation, the President reaffirmed the Council’s and the government’s commitment to embodying the Yemeni people’s stance against the Iranian regime. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that Yemeni territory does not serve as a platform for threatening international peace and security.

He reiterated the national constants of working closely with allies in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy and engaging with international and regional partners to serve the Yemeni cause and achieve the aspirations of restoring state institutions, whether through peaceful means or military action.

Parliamentary Updates and Support

President Alimi listened to a briefing from the Speaker of the House regarding the Council’s activities over the past period, including oversight of the executive authority’s performance and the general situation in the country. The Parliamentary leadership stressed the importance of enabling the government to access sovereign resources and praised ongoing efforts to prepare the final accounts and the state budget.

The Speaker and members of the Parliamentary leadership underscored the need to mobilize all resources and efforts to address the economic crisis and mitigate its humanitarian impacts on citizens and essential services.

Conclusion

The meeting underscored the importance of convening the House of Representatives to exercise its legislative and oversight powers over the executive authority. It also highlighted the need for a robust presence in the national battle against the Imamate project and efforts to combat corruption and terrorism.

Attendees included Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the President’s Office, and Hatem Mubarak Bamahrez, Director of the Speaker’s Office.

This meeting marks a significant step in addressing Yemen’s pressing challenges and reinforcing the commitment to national unity and effective governance.
