In a significant development for healthcare in Yemen, Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, along with Al-Mahrah Governor, Mohammed Ali Yasser, visited the newly established Kidney Dialysis Center. This facility, equipped by the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, forms part of a broader initiative that includes various humanitarian and developmental projects across Yemeni provinces, particularly in Al-Mahrah.
During the visit, Al-Eryani praised the center’s role in providing essential dialysis services to patients suffering from acute and chronic kidney failure. The center operates daily using advanced and modern equipment that meets the latest health standards. Additionally, it offers specialized healthcare for kidney failure patients, ensuring they receive the necessary support.
Al-Eryani expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, led by Ambassador Mohammed Al-Jaber. The center features 20 dialysis chairs and includes separate sections for men and women, along with an isolation room. Al-Eryani highlighted the program’s impactful projects in education and healthcare, emphasizing their importance in community development in Al-Mahrah and beyond.
The minister also recognized the vital role of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, which funds the center’s operations and provides free medical services to kidney patients. Since its inauguration in early 2020, the center has conducted 20,571 dialysis sessions, performed 44,874 various medical tests, and issued 24,966 prescriptions, serving both local residents and patients from other provinces.
Al-Eryani conveyed deep gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for their noble humanitarian efforts towards the Yemeni people. He affirmed that these sincere efforts, manifested through health, developmental, and humanitarian projects, exemplify Arab and Islamic solidarity, bolstering the resilience of the Yemeni population during challenging times.
The minister emphasized that establishing health centers like the dialysis facility and eight new schools, including Al-Dhahria Secondary School for Girls, reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of Yemenis. These initiatives enhance the capabilities of the local population and instill hope for a brighter future.
Following the visit to the dialysis center, Al-Eryani and Governor Yasser toured Al-Dhahria Secondary School for Girls, another project initiated by the Saudi program. They explored the computer lab, laboratory, and classrooms, listening to the school administration discuss the educational project, which opened in 2020 and accommodates 397 students in both scientific and literary tracks.
Al-Eryani expressed satisfaction with the school’s performance and the high level of student enrollment. He commended the establishment of model classrooms to enhance student skills and improve the quality of education. The minister urged the school administration and the local education office to continue their efforts in advancing educational processes, emphasizing the school’s role as a model for community education and development.
Al-Dhahria Secondary School for Girls is one of eight schools built by the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen in Al-Mahrah, with a total investment of $5.55 million. The schools feature 12 classrooms, equipped chemistry and computer labs, and dual-purpose sports facilities. Additionally, the program provided 13 school buses to transport students and furnished the schools with necessary educational materials.
The visit by Minister Al-Eryani and Governor Yasser underscores the ongoing commitment of Saudi Arabia to support Yemen through healthcare and education initiatives. Their efforts reflect a deep-rooted bond between the two nations, fostering hope and resilience among the Yemeni people during difficult times.
