Minister of Industry Discusses Accounting Association's Role in Yemen

In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mohammed Al-Ashwal, engaged with Abdullah Bajrash, the President of the Association of Certified Accountants. The discussion focused on the operational mechanisms of the association and the integration of certified accountants under its umbrella.

Enhancing Collaboration Between the Ministry and the Association

The meeting, which also included Mohammed Al-Humaidi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Foreign Trade, and Abubakr Baouzir, the Secretary-General of the association, emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation between the ministry and the association. Both parties recognized the importance of developing the accounting profession in Yemen. They highlighted the necessity of organizing accounting practices in line with international standards to ensure high-quality work. This initiative aims to create a conducive environment for accountants, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of the national economy and the achievement of sustainable development.

Supporting New Accountants and Training Programs

The attendees discussed strategies for integrating new accountants into the association. They aimed to streamline the membership process and provide essential support for newcomers. The meeting underscored the importance of offering specialized training programs to improve accountants’ competencies and practical skills.

Addressing Challenges in the Accounting Profession

Participants also addressed the challenges faced by accountants, including limited job opportunities and increased competition. They stressed the need to tackle these issues by proposing partnerships with private sector institutions. Such collaborations could create job opportunities for accountants and strengthen the association’s role in supporting its members.

This meeting marks a proactive step towards enhancing the accounting profession in Yemen, ensuring that accountants receive the necessary support and training to thrive in a competitive environment.
