Minister of Awqaf Warns Against Houthi Plans to Ignite Regional Conflicts

Minister of Awqaf and Guidance, Turki Al-Wadaei, affirmed the legitimacy of the Presidential Leadership Council’s announcement made last Tuesday regarding penalties for collaborating with the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias. This includes financing their criminal activities and facilitating their operations.

Houthi Militias as a Threat to Society

In a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Al-Wadaei described the Houthi militias as a rebellious and misguided faction that has armed itself against the state, the legitimate authority, and society. He emphasized that cooperating with them equates to participating in bloodshed, chaos, and violations of citizens’ rights.

Documenting Houthi Crimes

Al-Wadaei pointed out that the Houthi militia has committed numerous crimes that warrant exposure through legitimate means and public awareness. He highlighted various violations, including attacks on civilians, arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, landmine planting, theft of public and private property, illegal taxation, destruction of places of worship and schools, and the blockade of cities. These actions have led to starvation among residents and hindered the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid, using citizens’ suffering as leverage for military and political pressure. The militia has also targeted cities and residential neighborhoods in Yemen and neighboring Saudi Arabia.

Call to Support the State

The Minister stressed that these crimes necessitate standing with the state against the Houthi aggression, viewing it as a defense of essential rights and the protection of the nation’s identity and beliefs. He urged citizens to engage with the national mobilization calls made by President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Upholding Legal and Ethical Standards

Al-Wadaei emphasized the importance of countering the Houthi aggression under the banner of the state and authorized official bodies. He called for adherence to legal frameworks that protect lives, uphold the rights of innocents, and prohibit unjust retaliation and oppression.

Recruitment of Children by the Houthis

The Minister also condemned the Houthi militia’s recruitment of children to participate in armed conflicts, labeling it a serious violation of children’s rights and a crime against future generations. He noted that this practice contradicts religious and humanitarian values that advocate for the protection of innocents and a dignified life under the state.

Warning Against Regional Hatred

Al-Wadaei warned of the dangers posed by the Houthi militia’s mobilization of fighters from various provinces to combat residents of other regions. He stated that this strategy extends beyond military confrontations and threatens to deepen hatred and animosity among citizens. It risks sowing the seeds of revenge and regional division, which could have lasting repercussions even after the war ends.

Encouragement for Reporting Collaborators

The Minister urged citizens and state employees to cooperate with relevant authorities and promptly report any suspected collaborators with the Houthi militia through official channels. This cooperation is crucial for enhancing internal security, community stability, and supporting the battle to restore the state as part of the “Dawn of Yemen” operation.

Advice to Citizens Under Houthi Control

Al-Wadaei advised citizens in Houthi-controlled provinces to resist falling for misleading slogans and ideas that contradict their religious beliefs and interests. He urged them to recognize the gravity of the attacks on their communities and the unlawful shedding of innocent blood. He asserted that no one benefits from such actions except for the Iranian agenda pursued by the Houthi militia, which aims to undermine the security and stability of the region and the world.
