Minister of Agriculture Leads Meeting to Enhance Agricultural and Fisheries Sectors

Today, in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Salem Al-Saqtri, convened a comprehensive meeting with leaders and employees from the agricultural and fisheries sectors. The meeting aimed to assess administrative and technical performance while reinforcing workplace discipline during this critical period.

Emphasizing Institutional Efficiency

Minister Al-Saqtri stressed the importance of improving institutional efficiency and fostering collaboration among various departments. He believes that these efforts will enhance the ministry’s ability to tackle the economic challenges facing the country and support national food security initiatives.

Prioritizing Agricultural and Fisheries Development

The minister highlighted that both the agricultural and fisheries sectors represent urgent national priorities. He called for the mobilization of all available resources to boost local production. Additionally, he encouraged initiatives and projects that create job opportunities and support rural and coastal communities. The ministry is committed to implementing sustainable development programs that increase production efficiency and optimize natural resource utilization. These efforts aim to reduce poverty rates and improve living standards.

Aligning with Economic Recovery Plans

Al-Saqtri urged the ministry to align its efforts with the government’s economic recovery plan. He emphasized the need to develop and execute practical projects that focus on enhancing agricultural and fisheries infrastructure. Such projects should also create job opportunities and promote local production. Furthermore, he pointed out the significance of coordinating with local and international partners to attract funding and implement training programs that build capacity.

Enhancing Communication and Capacity Building

The minister directed the establishment of an effective mechanism for information exchange among the ministry’s departments. He proposed organizing workshops and internal meetings to strengthen institutional communication and improve staff efficiency. Additionally, he emphasized the need to support and upgrade central laboratories in both sectors, as they play a crucial role in quality control, research, and scientific analysis.

By focusing on these strategic areas, the ministry aims to foster growth and resilience in Yemen’s agricultural and fisheries sectors, ultimately contributing to the nation’s economic stability and food security.
