In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Salem Al-Saqtri, engaged with Hassan Al-Attas, the Assistant Supervisor General of the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen. The discussion focused on enhancing collaborative efforts in the agricultural and fisheries sectors to support sustainable development initiatives.
Both parties explored existing partnerships between the Ministry and the Saudi program, emphasizing the need to expand these collaborations. They identified strategic projects aimed at increasing agricultural and fish production, improving infrastructure, and enhancing irrigation systems. Additionally, they discussed providing modern tools and technologies to support farmers and fishermen.
The meeting also addressed technical support programs and institutional capacity building. The participants reviewed current and future interventions implemented by the Saudi program across various governorates. These initiatives aim to strengthen food security, create job opportunities, and improve livelihoods, particularly for communities in rural and coastal areas.
Minister Al-Saqtri highlighted the crucial role of the Saudi program in supporting vital sectors, particularly agriculture and fisheries. He praised the continuous assistance provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Yemen in various developmental and humanitarian fields. This support reflects the deep-rooted brotherly relations between the two countries. Al-Saqtri reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with regional and international partners, focusing on clear priorities that address current needs and contribute to economic recovery and social stability.
In response, Al-Attas affirmed the Saudi program’s dedication to expanding cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries. He emphasized the importance of implementing impactful projects that enhance the capabilities of national institutions, support the local economy, and improve service levels, ultimately benefiting the lives of citizens.
The meeting also included the presence of Engineer Mohammed Jazeelan, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards fostering sustainable development in Yemen’s agricultural and fisheries sectors, promising a brighter future for local communities.
