The meteorological department forecasts mild weather along the coasts, with very cold conditions in mountainous areas and deserts.

Weather Forecast: Mild Conditions Expected Along Coastal Areas

The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast and Early Warning Center has predicted clear to partly cloudy weather for coastal regions today, Thursday. Temperatures will remain moderate, with light to moderate winds along the eastern coasts. In contrast, southern and western coasts, including Bab al-Mandab, will experience stronger winds.

Mountainous Regions: Cold Nights Ahead

According to the daily weather bulletin, which was shared with the Yemen News Agency (Saba), the mountainous areas will experience clear skies with very cold to extremely cold temperatures during the night and early morning, particularly in parts of the western highlands. The southern highlands and interior plateaus will also see cold to very cold conditions. Meanwhile, desert and plateau regions will enjoy mild daytime temperatures but will turn cold at night and in the early morning, with moderate to active winds stirring up dust and sand.

Temperature Predictions for Today

The forecast for maximum and minimum temperatures today in coastal and nearby areas is as follows:

  • Aden: 29°C / 21°C
  • Mukalla: 28°C / 20°C
  • Hodeidah: 29°C / 23°C
  • Socotra: 29°C / 21°C
  • Mokha: 29°C / 23°C
  • Al-Ghaydah: 29°C / 17°C
  • Zinjibar: 29°C / 20°C
  • Lahij: 29°C / 20°C

In desert and plateau regions, temperatures are expected to be:

  • Sayun: 28°C / 12°C
  • Marib: 28°C / 09°C
  • Ataq: 27°C / 10°C
  • Bayhan: 26°C / 09°C

For mountainous areas, temperatures will be:

  • Sana’a: 24°C / 03°C
  • Taiz: 27°C / 12°C
  • Dhamar: 23°C / 01°C
  • Al-Dhale: 26°C / 10°C
  • Ibb: 26°C / 10°C
  • Al-Bayda: 24°C / 02°C

Health and Safety Warnings

The center has issued warnings to citizens, particularly the elderly and children, about the drop in temperatures during the night and early morning. It advises taking necessary precautions. Farmers, beekeepers, and livestock owners should also prepare for the cold weather to protect their assets.

Marine Conditions: Caution Advised

In its daily marine bulletin, the center forecasts calm seas along the coasts of Al-Mahrah, Hadramaut, Shabwa, Abyan, Aden, and the Socotra Archipelago. The western coasts will experience light to moderate waves, while Bab al-Mandab will see moderate wave conditions. The regional waters in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden will remain calm, while the Red Sea will have moderate waves.

The center warns sea-goers and fishermen in the Red Sea about potential disturbances, high waves, and strong winds.
