On Thursday, Governor Ahmed Turki inaugurated a branch of the Islamic Microfinance Bank in the city of Al-Hawta, Lahij Governorate. This event marks a significant step towards enhancing economic and investment projects within the region.
During the opening ceremony, attended by key officials including Dr. Khaled Jaber, Director of Public Health and Population, and Fathi Bajash, Director of Education, Governor Turki emphasized the local government’s commitment to supporting developmental and service-oriented economic initiatives. He highlighted the importance of private banking initiatives that stimulate economic activity and expand financial services for low- and middle-income communities.
Governor Turki praised the positive role of private banks, particularly the Islamic Microfinance Bank, in providing accessible financing opportunities for small and micro enterprises. He noted the bank’s support for young entrepreneurs and women, stating that Lahij welcomes serious investments that align with developmental priorities and address urgent community needs.

In a related event, Governor Turki, accompanied by Dr. Khaled Jaber, conducted a field visit to the Health Sciences Institute in Al-Hawta. They reviewed the educational process and training programs offered to students in various specializations, including medical laboratories, dentistry, physician assistance, nursing, and midwifery. The governor inspected classrooms and laboratories to assess the quality of education.
During his meeting with the faculty and administrative staff, Governor Turki called for improving academic and administrative performance. He emphasized the need for a stimulating educational environment that keeps pace with advancements in health and medical fields. He acknowledged the vital role the institute plays in preparing qualified health professionals, which is essential for supporting the healthcare sector in the governorate.
