King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center Signs Agreements for Food Distribution in Yemen

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has signed two cooperation agreements with civil society organizations to distribute 600,000 food baskets in Yemen for the years 2025-2026. The total weight of these food baskets amounts to 35 tons and 640 kilograms.

Aiming to Alleviate Food Insecurity

Engineer Ahmed Al-Bayez, the Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs at the center, signed the agreements at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh. This initiative will benefit approximately 1.74 million individuals. The primary goal is to reduce food insecurity and improve the conditions of families classified in crisis and emergency stages, helping them transition to better situations. This effort aims to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people in various governorates, including Al-Hudaydah, Taiz, Aden, Lahij, Al-Dhale, Abyan, Shabwa, Socotra, Hadramaut, Al-Mahrah, Marib, Al-Jawf, Hajjah, and Saada.

Medical Support Initiatives in Aden

In a related effort, the volunteer medical team from the King Salman Center conducted 115 surgeries for liver patients in Aden. Additionally, they performed 125 endoscopic procedures. The outpatient clinics served 40 patients, and the team delivered six educational and training lectures for local medical staff as part of the volunteer medical project focused on liver and biliary surgeries.

Empowering Women through Renewable Energy Training

In Hadramaut, the King Salman Center implemented a vocational training program in solar products in the Qatn district. This initiative is part of a broader project aimed at empowering Yemeni women in renewable energy ventures, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Two hundred women participated in the 17-day training program, which included intensive theoretical and practical sessions on life skills and business management. This training significantly enhanced their overall capabilities.

Preparing for Solar Product Production

Furthermore, the center trained 16 instructors from the Technical, Veterinary, and Agricultural Institute to provide technical and administrative support to the women benefiting from the vocational training in solar products. The center announced the launch of a production phase that will involve manufacturing and assembling 10,500 units of solar ovens and lamps. These products will be distributed to the most needy families in the Qatn district, furthering the center’s commitment to community support and development.
