The Human Rights Office in Al Hudaydah has strongly condemned the brutal crime committed by Houthi militias against a 45-year-old woman, Fatima Ayesh Ahmed. The incident occurred in the Al-Durayhimi district, located in the southern part of the governorate.
In an official statement, the office described the crime as “heinous,” emphasizing that it represents a “flagrant violation of human rights, humanitarian values, and tribal customs that respect the sanctity of human life.” This incident highlights the ongoing violations perpetrated by the Houthi group against the Yemeni people, particularly targeting women and children, all without regard for international or humanitarian law.
The statement placed full responsibility for this horrific crime on the Houthi militia. It urged the international community and local and international human rights organizations to take immediate action to condemn this criminal act. Furthermore, it called for necessary measures to ensure accountability for the perpetrators and to put an end to these recurring violations.
The Human Rights Office reiterated its call to the Presidential Leadership Council and the legitimate government to take practical steps to end the Houthi coup. The office emphasized the need to protect the people of Al Hudaydah and Yemen at large from the brutality of Houthi militias.
The Houthi militia abducted Fatima Ayesh Ahmed eight days prior to the discovery of her body. She was taken from the Marqoudah displacement camp in Al-Durayhimi. Authorities found her body in the desert area of Dukhna in the same district on Saturday.
This tragic incident underscores the urgent need for action and accountability in Yemen, where ongoing violence continues to threaten the lives and rights of civilians.
