The House of Representatives reaffirms support for the Leadership Council’s decisions, condemning Iranian escalation as a direct aggression against national sovereignty.

Yemeni Parliament Reaffirms Support for Leadership Amid Rising Tensions

The Yemeni Parliament has reiterated its support for the decisions and actions taken by the Presidential Leadership Council and the National Defense Council. The Parliament also expressed its backing for the government’s measures aimed at countering Iranian-backed Houthi aggression and preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen.

Concerns Over Houthi Escalation

In a statement released today, the Parliament voiced deep concern over the escalating actions of Houthi militias and their Iranian supporters. The statement highlighted attempts to drag Yemen into further conflict and destruction. Recent flights between Sana’a and Tehran, along with the provision of various weapons and aircraft to the Houthis, exemplify this troubling trend. Notably, a recent flight transported Houthi leaders to Tehran, blatantly challenging both the Yemeni people and the international community, as well as violating international legitimacy.

Iranian Violations of Yemeni Airspace

The statement emphasized that Iran has not only continued its support for the Houthis but has also violated Yemeni airspace with an aircraft subject to international sanctions. This act serves as clear evidence of Iran’s persistent military backing for the Houthis, representing a blatant violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and a challenge to international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216.

Yemeni Resolve Against Aggression

The Parliament affirmed that the Yemeni people and their leaders will not accept this challenge. They will confront it with strength and determination, refusing to succumb to Iranian hostility or the criminal actions of Houthi militias. Yemen has never been a playground for foreign ambitions, and it will not serve as a testing ground for hegemonic projects or the whims of disruptors. This escalation constitutes a direct assault on national sovereignty.

Condemnation of Omani Facilitation

The Parliament also expressed its deep regret and condemnation of Oman’s questionable role in facilitating Houthi operations. Oman has reportedly provided pathways for the Houthis, enabling the flow of weapons and military technology from Iran. Recent incidents, including the passage of an Iranian aircraft through Omani airspace into Yemen, further illustrate this troubling collaboration. The Parliament cited previous attempts to smuggle military supplies, including thousands of weapon parts and drone engines, as evidence of ongoing support for the Houthis.

Call for Unity and Support

The Parliament emphasized that this escalation represents a direct aggression against Yemen’s sovereignty. It reaffirmed its support for the actions of the Presidential Leadership Council and the National Defense Council, urging regional allies and friends to bolster the Yemeni government’s legitimacy. The Parliament expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its steadfast support, which has significantly contributed to the resilience of the Yemeni state.

Honoring the Armed Forces

The Parliament commended the bravery of the armed forces, security agencies, and national resistance. Their sacrifices and heroism in defending the nation and restoring state institutions deserve recognition. The struggle to restore the state is a battle for national identity and sovereignty, necessitating a unified national front around constitutional legitimacy and the armed forces.

Confidence in Overcoming Challenges

The Parliament expressed confidence in the awareness of the Yemeni people, the valor of the armed forces, and the support from regional allies. It believes that national institutions can overcome these challenges.

Conclusion

The Parliament concluded with a tribute to the martyrs of the republic, wishing a swift recovery for the wounded and victory for the armed forces. It denounced the Iranian agenda and its Houthi proxies, asserting that Yemen will remain resilient against foreign domination.
